{"id":50283,"date":"2025-06-14T14:56:23","date_gmt":"2025-06-14T09:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=50283"},"modified":"2025-06-14T16:06:50","modified_gmt":"2025-06-14T10:36:50","slug":"surinsar-mansar-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/surinsar-mansar-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary Latest News<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Divisional Level Committee to monitor the Eco-Sensitive Zone around the Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in the Union Territory of <\/span><b>Jammu and Kashmir.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is named after the twin lakes i.e. <\/span><b>Surinsar and Mansar <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">situated almost at two corners of the sanctuary separated by 16 km distance from each other.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sanctuary spreads over three districts vis-\u00e0vis Jammu, Udhampur and Samba. The major part of the sanctuary falls in the <\/span><b>Jammu District.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Surinsar and Mansar lakes are included in the list of <\/span><b>Ramsar sites in 2005.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The area forms one of the important <\/span><b>catchments of river Tawi.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Topography:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The topography of the area is hilly with moderate to steep slopes interspersed with small drainage nallas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Northern dry mixed deciduous forests, Himalayan Sub-tropical Scrub Forests, Himalayan subtropical Pine Forest, Lower Siwalik Chir Pine forest, Dodonea scrub forests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The sanctuary is home of many important species including Blue bull\/ Nilgai, Jackal, Indian barking deer, Leopard, Wild boar, Fox.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The principal species are Pinus rouxburgii, Acacia catechu, Lannea grandi, Mallotus philipenesis, Cassia fistula, Zizyphus jujuba, Dalbergia sissoo, Emblica officinalis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/kashmirlife.net\/govt-forms-divisional-committee-to-monitor-surinsar-mansar-eco-sensitive-zone-393817\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KL<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surinsar-Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, known for its rich biodiversity and picturesque twin lakes.
