{"id":50373,"date":"2025-06-15T14:49:55","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T09:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=50373"},"modified":"2025-06-16T17:15:51","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T11:45:51","slug":"pradhan-mantri-ujjwala-yojana-pmuy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pradhan-mantri-ujjwala-yojana-pmuy\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Latest News<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumption of petroleum products, especially diesel and cooking gas in Andaman &amp; Nicobar (A&amp;N) Islands, has jumped in recent years, aided by Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a flagship scheme of the <\/span><b>Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched in May <\/span><b>2016<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To make <\/span><b>clean cooking fuel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">such as <\/span><b>LPG available to the rural and deprived households <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, cow-dung cakes, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Benefits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rs. 1600 for a 14.2 kg cylinder<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or Rs. <\/span><b>1150 for a 5 kg cylinder.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, All PMUY beneficiaries will be <\/span><b>provided with their first LPG refill and stove (hot plate), both free of cost,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with their <\/span><b>deposit-free connection.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Priority <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">would be given to the<\/span><b> states which have lower LPG coverage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (compared to the national average) as on 1st Jan 2016.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligibility: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An <\/span><b>adult woman belonging to a poor household <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>not having an LPG connection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in her household will be eligible under UJJWALA 2.0. The beneficiaries should belong to any of the following categories:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligible as per the SECC 2011 list<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Belongs to <\/span><b>SC\/ST household<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s, be a b<\/span><b>eneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(PMAY), <\/span><b>Antyodaya Anna Yojana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (AAY),<\/span><b> Forest dwellers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Most Backward Classes (MBC), Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, People residing in river islands (Beneficiary will submit supporting document).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If she is not falling in the above 2 categories, then she can stake her claim to be a beneficiary under a poor<\/span><b> household<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by submitting a 14-point declaration (as per prescribed format).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Exclusions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><b>Male members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from a household <\/span><b>cannot apply<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deccanherald.com\/business\/ujjwala-scheme-boosts-lpg-use-in-andaman-nicobar-3585205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DH<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), launched in May 2016 by MOPNG, aims to provide LPG connections to women from poor households to promote clean cooking fuel.
