


{"id":5072,"date":"2022-12-16T04:23:34","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T22:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5072"},"modified":"2025-03-27T04:06:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T22:36:44","slug":"what-is-social-progress-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-social-progress-index\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Social Progress Index?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Social Progress Index (SPI):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>SPI is a comprehensive tool intended to be a holistic measure of the Social Progress made by the country at the national and sub-national levels.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The report has been prepared by <strong>Institute for Competitiveness,<\/strong> headed by Dr Amit Kapoor and the <strong>Social Progress Imperative,<\/strong> headed by Michael Green.<\/li>\n<li>It was mandated by <strong>Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What is the objective of the SPI?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The report aims to provide a systematic account of the social progress made at all levels in the country with state and district-wise rankings and scorecards.<\/li>\n<li>The report also sheds light on the achievements of the districts that have performed well on the index and the role of the states in achieving social progress.<\/li>\n<li>A special section of the report provides an analysis of the Aspirational Districts of India, leading to a broader understanding of the social progress at the grassroots level.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The report will act as a critical enabler and tool for policymakers in the coming years for achieving sustained socio-economic growth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Components:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>SPI assesses the performance of states and districts on three dimensions of social progress: <strong>Basic Human Needs, Foundations of Wellbeing, and Opportunity.
