{"id":50772,"date":"2026-04-21T12:10:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T06:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=50772"},"modified":"2026-04-21T13:37:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T08:07:48","slug":"support-for-marginalised-individuals-for-livelihood-and-enterprise-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/support-for-marginalised-individuals-for-livelihood-and-enterprise-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"SMILE Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SMILE Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent data shows that for 2021-2026, \u20b9390 crore was allotted by the government for the SMILE scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SMILE Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SMILE) scheme is a <\/span><b>Central Sector Scheme launched on 12th February 2022.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes <\/span><b>two sub-schemes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Welfare of Transgender Persons\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of Begging\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This umbrella scheme covers several comprehensive measures including <\/span><b>welfare measures for both transgender persons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>persons who are engaged<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the act of <\/span><b>begging.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of the SMILE Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Scholarships<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It <\/span><b>provides Scholarships<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Transgender Students <\/span><b>studying in IX and till<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 <\/span><b>post-graduation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enable them to complete their education.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Skill Development and Livelihood:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has provisions for <\/span><b>Skill Development and Livelihood<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the PM-DAKSH scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Composite Medical Health:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Through Composite Medical Health it provides a comprehensive package in convergence with PM-JAY supporting Gender-Reaffirmation surgeries through selected hospitals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Garima Greh:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It provides <\/span><b>shelter homes providing safe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, dignified accommodation to <\/span><b>transgender persons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who face homelessness as a result of family rejection or social stigma.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Transgender Protection Cells:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>Provision of Transgender Protection Cell in each state<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will monitor cases of offences and to ensure timely registration, investigation and prosecution of offences.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>National Portal &amp; Helpline:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The National Portal &amp; Helpline will <\/span><b>provide necessary information and solutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Transgender community and the people engaged in the act of begging when needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2253621&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SMILE Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme launched on 12th February 2022.
