{"id":50772,"date":"2025-08-23T12:10:24","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T06:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=50772"},"modified":"2025-08-25T17:37:03","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T12:07:03","slug":"support-for-marginalised-individuals-for-livelihood-and-enterprise-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/support-for-marginalised-individuals-for-livelihood-and-enterprise-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"SMILE Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SMILE Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the central government of India launched a 15 days Entrepreneurship Development Programme under the SMILE scheme to make the transgender persons self-reliant by granting them economic empowerment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SMILE Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Support for Marginalized Individual for Livelihood and Enterprise (SMILE) scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a Central Sector Scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes <\/span><b>two sub-schemes<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation for Welfare of Transgender Persons\u2019 and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Central Sector Scheme for Comprehensive Rehabilitation of persons engaged in the act of Begging\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This umbrella scheme covers several comprehensive measures including welfare measures for both transgender persons and persons who are engaged in the act of begging.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of the SMILE Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides Scholarships for Transgender Students studying in IX and till\u00a0 post-graduation to enable them to complete their education.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has provisions for <\/span><b>Skill Development and Livelihood<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the PM-DAKSH scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through Composite Medical Health it provides a <\/span><b>comprehensive package in convergence with PM-JAY<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> supporting Gender-Reaffirmation surgeries through selected hospitals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Housing facility in the form of \u2018Garima Greh\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ensures food, clothing, recreational facilities, skill development opportunities, recreational activities and medical support etc. to the Transgender community and the people engaged in the act of begging.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Provision of Transgender Protection Cell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in each state will monitor cases of offences and to ensure timely registration, investigation and prosecution of offences.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>National Portal &amp; Helpline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will provide necessary information and solutions to the Transgender community and the people engaged in the act of begging when needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2159470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The SMILE Scheme is a comprehensive initiative by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to support marginalized individuals through rehabilitation and welfare.
