{"id":5084,"date":"2023-03-15T01:48:43","date_gmt":"2023-03-14T20:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5084"},"modified":"2025-03-27T04:10:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T22:40:52","slug":"doklam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/doklam\/","title":{"rendered":"Doklam"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Doklam:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Doklam, or Donglang in Chinese, is an area spread over less than a 100 sq km comprising a plateau and a valley at the trijunction between India, Bhutan and China.<\/li>\n<li>It is surrounded by the Chumbi Valley of Tibet, Bhutan\u2019s Ha Valley and Sikkim.<\/li>\n<li>Doklam is strategically located close to the Siliguri Corridor, which connects mainland India with its north-eastern region.<\/li>\n<li>The corridor, also called Chicken\u2019s Neck, is a vulnerable point for India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Areas of differing perception:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>These are the areas where both sides patrol the area upto their claim lines.<\/li>\n<li>This \u201chas been the trend since 2006\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>India and China have mutually agreed disputed areas and areas of differing perception along the 3,488 km-long LAC.<\/li>\n<li>For instance in eastern Ladakh, there are two mutually agreed disputed areas, Trig Heights and Demchok, while there are 10 areas of differing perception.<\/li>\n<li>Similarly, Yangtse is one of the eight major friction points in the eastern sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is LAC?<\/h3>\n<p>The Line of Actual Control (LAC) is a demarcation line that separates Indian-controlled territory from Chinese-Controlled territory.
