{"id":51042,"date":"2025-06-20T12:00:59","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T06:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=51042"},"modified":"2025-06-20T14:52:03","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T09:22:03","slug":"fastag-annual-pass-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/fastag-annual-pass-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"FASTag Annual Pass Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>FASTag Annual Pass Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the union Minister of Road Transport and Highways announced a FASTag-based annual pass of Rs 3,000 for \u201chassle-free-highway travel\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About FASTag Annual Pass Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FASTag is an <\/span><b>electronic toll collection system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A FASTag was <\/span><b>launched in 2014<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a pilot project and made mandatory at every toll plaza in the country in 2021.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new annual pass scheme, activated on the FASTag, will allow free passage of private car, jeep or van at <\/span><b>National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> plazas for the given duration, <\/span><b>without per-trip user fee charges.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the Annual Pass completes <\/span><b>either 200 trips or one year from the date of activation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it will automatically revert to a regular FASTag.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the user may re-purchase the Annual Pass once the 200-trip limit is exhausted, even if the one-year validity period has not yet ended.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pass is <\/span><b>non-transferable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is <\/span><b>valid only for the vehicle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on which the FASTag is affixed and registered.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the <\/span><b>point-based fee plazas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, each crossing of the fee plaza will be counted as one trip. A round trip (to and fro) will be counted as two trips. For closed tolling fee plazas, one pair of entry and exit will be counted as one trip.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Annual Pass is applicable <\/span><b>only for private non-commercial cars<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>jeeps and vans.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is valid only at National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag.
