text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>nine-member panel <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">constituted by the <\/span><b>Union Education Ministry.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To suggest <\/span><b>measures to reduce the dependency of students on coaching centres <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>assess the effectiveness and fairness of <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">competitive <\/span><b>entrance examinations.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panel will also <\/span><b>brainstorm on the gaps in the current schooling system<\/b> <b>that contribute to<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> students\u2019 <\/span><b>reliance on coaching centres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly the limited focus on critical thinking, logical reasoning, analytical skills, and innovation, and \u201cthe prevalence of rote learning practices\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from Mr. Joshi, <\/span><b>Chairman of the CBSE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Joint Secretary (Institutions), Department of School Educatio<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n and Literacy, <\/span><b>representatives of IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, IIT Kanpur, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><b>NCERT, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>three school principals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (one each from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and a Private School\u2014to be nominated by the Centre) will be <\/span><b>members in the panel.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A joint secretary from the Higher Education Department will be Member Secretary of the panel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Terms of Reference (ToR) for the panel includes the<\/span><b> examination of the reasons behind the emergence of \u201cdummy schools<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d and their role in encouraging full-time coaching at the cost of formal schooling and suggest ways to mitigate them.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panel will also <\/span><b>\u201cassess the role and impact of formative assessments at school<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>higher education levels,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and how their absence affects students\u2019 conceptual understanding and preparedness for competitive examinations\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The panel will <\/span><b>analyse the rising demand for quality higher education,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>limited availability of seats<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in premier institutions, and how this imbalance drives students towards coaching institutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also <\/span><b>evaluate the awareness levels among students and parents <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">regarding <\/span><b>multiple career pathways<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the \u201cimpact of this lack of awareness on the <\/span><b>over-dependence on a few elite institutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another brief of the committee is to<\/span><b> study the effectiveness and fairness of competitive entrance examinations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the context of the school education system, and their <\/span><b>influence on the growth of the coaching industry.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also <\/span><b>review the advertising practices of coaching centres,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including the use of misleading claims and the promotion of selective success stories, and recommend suitable mechanisms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
