


{"id":51164,"date":"2025-06-21T14:26:45","date_gmt":"2025-06-21T08:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=51164"},"modified":"2025-06-21T15:54:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-21T10:24:53","slug":"nakshatra-meaning-significance-cluster-latest-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/nakshatra-meaning-significance-cluster-latest-news\/","title":{"rendered":"NAKSHATRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>NAKSHATRA Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has introduced its first high-performance computing facility NAKSHATRA at its National Institute of Virology (NIV) facility in Pune.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About NAKSHATRA<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the state-of-the-art <\/span><b>high performance computing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (HPC) cluster for <\/span><b>virological research.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NAKSHATRA cluster includes 12 compute nodes, 700 cores, and a total storage <\/span><b>capacity of 1 petabyte<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will support advanced bioinformatics workflows such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptomics, metagenomics, phylogenetics, and structural bioinformatics.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It enables enhanced storage and <\/span><b>optimises the pipeline for genomic research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which ensures better viral genomic surveillance capacity and national preparedness for any future pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facility supports <\/span><b>faster analysis of complex genomic data,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allowing <\/span><b>scientists to detect new<\/b> <b>disease threats <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sooner, respond to outbreaks more efficiently, and accelerate AI-driven vaccine and drug development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Developed under the <\/span><b>Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PMABHIM), the facility forms the cornerstone of a new project, called the High Performance Computing Next Generation Sequencing Hub.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facility will also act as a <\/span><b>central repository for sequencing data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and extend support to Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDLs).
