style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>first of the indigenously built Project 17A stealth frigates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>designed by<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Indian <\/span><b>Navy\u2019s Warship Design Bureau<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>built at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Nilgiri class<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a design <\/span><b>derivative of<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the indigenous <\/span><b>Shivalik class <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stealth frigates (Project 17).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Other Ships in the Class: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The remaining six frigates \u2014 <\/span><b>Himgiri, Taragiri, Udaygiri, Dunagiri, Vindhyagiri, and Mahendragiri<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 are under construction at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai, and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>INS Nilgiri <\/b>would be an integral part of the <\/span><b>Eastern Naval Command.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>INS Nilgiri Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INS Nilgiri is 149 meters long, with a displacement of approximately 6,670 tonnes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is powered by a <\/span><b>sophisticated combined diesel and gas (CODAG) propulsion <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can achieve speeds of up to 28 knots.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The warship is enabled to <\/span><b>operate independently<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without supporting vessels and to function as the flagship of the Naval task force.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Armed with 16 <\/span><b>Barak-8 Surface-to-Air Missiles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, INS Nilgiri offers strong anti-aircraft protection.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, it includes <\/span><b>8 BrahMos missiles <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for anti-ship and surface-to-surface combat.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>radar systems <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on board include <\/span><b>MF-STAR for 360-degree cover,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 3D AESA radar for the tracking of multi-targets, and <\/span><b>Nishant radar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for targeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Combat Management System (CMS)<\/b> <b>integrates all systems,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which enables the smooth execution of network-centric
