{"id":5144,"date":"2022-12-02T11:16:01","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T05:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5144"},"modified":"2025-03-27T04:32:11","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T23:02:11","slug":"national-anti-doping-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-anti-doping-agency\/","title":{"rendered":"National Anti-Doping Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is NADA?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>NADA was established by the Government of India, with the objective of acting as the independent Anti-Doping Organization for India having a vision of dope-free sports.<\/li>\n<li>It was set up as a <strong>registered society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860<\/strong> on November 2005.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>primary functions of NADA are as under:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To implement the Anti-Doping Code <\/strong>to achieve compliance by all sports organizations in the Country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To coordinate dope testing program<\/strong> through all participating stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To promote anti-doping research<\/strong> and education to inculcate the value of dope free sports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To adopt best practice standards <\/strong>and quality systems to enable effective implementation and continual improvement of the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Athletes may have illnesses or conditions that require them to take medications or undergo procedures. If the medication or method is prohibited as per the World Anti-Doping Agency\u2019s (WADA) Prohibited List, a <strong>TUE may give that athlete the authorization to use that substance or method <\/strong>while competing without invoking an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) and applicable sanction.<\/li>\n<li>Applications for TUEs are evaluated by a panel of physicians the TUE Committee (TUEC). <strong>NADO TUEs are only valid for national-level Competition and Out-of-Competition Testing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The World Anti-Doping Agency<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The World Anti-Doping Agency is a foundation initiated by the <strong>International Olympic Committee<\/strong> to promote, coordinate and monitor the fight against drugs in sports.<\/li>\n<li>The agency&#8217;s key activities include monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code, whose provisions are enforced by the <strong>UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters<\/strong>: Montreal, Quebec, Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is WADA and NADA?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) is the national organisation responsible for controlling and monitoring the use of dopes in all the sports in India.
