


{"id":51629,"date":"2025-06-24T15:04:52","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T09:34:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=51629"},"modified":"2025-06-25T11:50:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T06:20:17","slug":"sustainable-development-report-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sustainable-development-report-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainable Development Report 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sustainable Development Report 2025 Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India ranks 99th on the 2025 SDG Index with a score of 67 in recently released Sustainable Development Report 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sustainable Development Report 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It reviews <\/span><b>progress made each year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since their adoption by the 193 <\/span><b>UN Member States in 2015.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is published by the U.N. <\/span><b>Sustainable Development Solutions Network.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Also Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sustainable-development-report-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainable Development Report 2024<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><b>Highlights of the Sustainable Development Report 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>India has<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the first time secured a <\/span><b>place among the top 100 out of 193 countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ranked for their progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SDG progress has <\/span><b>stalled at the global level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with <\/span><b>only 17 per cent of the 17 targets <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adopted by the U.N. member countries in 2015 <\/span><b>projected to be achieved by 2030.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is said that conflicts, <\/span><b>structural vulnerabilities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>limited fiscal space<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> impede SDG progress in many parts of the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>European countries,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> especially the <\/span><b>Nordic nations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, continue to <\/span><b>top the SDG Index,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with Finland ranking first, Sweden second and Denmark third.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many <\/span><b>European countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> face significant challenges including those related to <\/span><b>climate and biodiversity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, largely due to unsustainable consumption.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>East and South Asia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have outperformed all other global regions in terms of SDG progress since 2015 largely due to <\/span><b>rapid socioeconomic development.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most UN member states have <\/span><b>made strong progress<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on targets related to access to basic services and <\/span><b>infrastructure, including mobile broadband<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> use (SDG 9), access to electricity (SDG 7), internet use (SDG 9), <\/span><b>under-five mortality rate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SDG 3) and <\/span><b>neonatal mortality<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SDG 3).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Five targets show significant reversals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in progress since 2015.
