{"id":51775,"date":"2026-08-29T12:55:57","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T07:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=51775"},"modified":"2026-08-29T15:19:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T09:49:09","slug":"sree-narayana-guru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sree-narayana-guru\/","title":{"rendered":"Sree Narayana Guru"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sree Narayana Guru Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Prime Minister of India paid tributes to Sree Narayana Guru on his birth anniversary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sree Narayana Guru<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sree Narayan Guru was a <\/span><b>saint, philosopher, spiritual leader<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>social reformer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><b>Kerala.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Guru was born into an <\/span><b>Ezhava family.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was one of the most successful social reformers to revolt <\/span><b>against the caste system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He demonstrated a path to social <\/span><b>emancipation without invoking the dualism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the oppressed and the oppressor.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Gurudevan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as he was known among his followers, led a reform movement in Kerala, revolted against the caste system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Philosophy:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201c<\/span><b>Oru Jathi, Oru Matham, Oru Daivam, Manushyanu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d translates to \u201c<\/span><b>One Caste, One Religion, One God for Mankind\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is a core message advocated by Shri Narayana Guru.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Works of Sree Narayana Guru<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Aruvippuram Movement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1888): Sree Narayana <\/span><b>Guru consecrated a Shiva idol<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Aruvippuram, a village in present-day Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, symbolising <\/span><b>resistance against social injustice<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly the caste-based restrictions that barred lower castes from temple entry.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Established SNDP<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the Indian Companies Act, the Sri Narayana Guru Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) was established in 1903.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Narayana Guru served as its permanent chairman, while Kumaran Asan, a renowned poet and disciple of Guru, became its general secretary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ezhava\u2019s right to attend public schools, access to government services, and political representation were all addressed by the SNDP.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Guru also led the \u2018<\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/vaikom-satyagraha\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vaikom Satyagraha<\/a>\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> protest movement against caste discrimination, untouchability, and inequality.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sivagiri <\/span><b>foundation was established in 1924<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the Guru to promote virtues of cleanliness, education, devotion, agriculture, handicrafts, and trade.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sivagiri pilgrimage (Sivagiri Theerthadanam), initiated by his followers, promotes values of purity, education, and organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Literary Contributions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He authored several important works, including Advaitha Deepika, Atmavilasam, Daiva Dasakam, and Brahmavidya Panchakam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2304121&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sree Narayana Guru was a saint, philosopher, spiritual leader, and social reformer from Kerala.
