The roles of District Collector and District Magistrate are often confused, but they have distinct functions in the administrative hierarchy. The District Collector is the highest authority in charge of revenue administration within a district. They oversee matters related to land revenue, taxation, and the management of resources. In terms of revenue-related matters, the Collector is answerable to the government through the Divisional Commissioner and Financial Commissioner.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the District Magistrate, usually an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, holds the position of the senior-most executive magistrate.
