{"id":52012,"date":"2025-06-27T12:25:48","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T06:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=52012"},"modified":"2025-06-28T10:44:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-28T05:14:12","slug":"k-6-missile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/k-6-missile\/","title":{"rendered":"K-6 Missile"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>K-6 Missile Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a major boost to its strategic deterrence and naval capabilities, India is developing the K-6 hypersonic submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>About K-6 Missile<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is under development at <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/defence-research-and-development-organisation-drdo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DRDO\u2019<\/a>s Advanced Naval Systems Laboratory in Hyderabad.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed <\/span><b>specifically for the advanced S-5 class SSBNs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) of the Indian Navy.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Larger than the Arihant, the S-5 will be 12 metres long, 2 metres wide, and capable of carrying two to three tonnes of warheads.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>K-6 Missile Features:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>hypersonic SLBM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 7.5\u2014or approximately 9,261 kilometres per hour.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This staggering speed dramatically <\/span><b>reduces enemy reaction time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>makes interception <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by conventional missile defence systems<\/span><b> virtually impossible.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The K-6 missile boasts an impressive<\/span><b> range of 8,000 kilometers.
