The day honours the bravery, sacrifice, and strategic excellence of the Indian Armed Forces and the <\/span><b>Mukti Bahini<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In Vijay Diwas 2025, India marks <\/span><b>54 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of this decisive victory, remembering nearly 3,900 Indian soldiers martyred and over 9,800 injured during the short but intense war.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Indo-Pakistan War 1971<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/list-of-wars-between-india-and-pakistan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indo-Pakistan War<\/a> 1971<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was a 13 day high-intensity conflict fought on eastern and western fronts, ending with Pakistan\u2019s largest military surrender.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">War began after Pakistan\u2019s pre-emptive airstrikes on 11 Indian airbases on 3 December 1971.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Eastern Front focused on East Pakistan (now Bangladesh); Western Front saw battles along Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu borders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Chief of Army Staff, led India\u2019s integrated military strategy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Operation Trident <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4 December 1971) severely damaged Karachi port, destroying Pakistani naval assets.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iconic battles included Longewala, Parbat Ali, and Chachro raid by 10 Para Commandos under II<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Formation of Bangladesh<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bangladesh emerged as a sovereign nation after a brutal liberation struggle supported decisively by India.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Political crisis began after the 1970 elections, where East Pakistan\u2019s mandate was ignored by West Pakistan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Genocide under General Yahya Khan triggered mass killings, rape, and displacement of civilians.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared independence on 26 March 1971 before arrest.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Declaration broadcast by Major Ziaur Rahman from Kalurghat Radio Minister.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joint operations of Indian Armed Forces and Mukti Bahini led to the fall of Dhaka on 16 December 1971.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Vijay Diwas 2025 Memorial<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vijay Diwas 2025 is marked by tributes, ceremonies, and public remembrance across India.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Victory War Memorial, Kamarajar Salai, Chennai<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, remains open on 16 December
