{"id":5216,"date":"2022-12-03T05:58:17","date_gmt":"2022-12-03T00:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5216"},"modified":"2025-03-27T04:58:28","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T23:28:28","slug":"homage-paid-to-chaolung-sukapha-on-assam-divas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/homage-paid-to-chaolung-sukapha-on-assam-divas\/","title":{"rendered":"Homage paid to Chaolung Sukapha on Assam Divas"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Sukapha:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Assam day is also known as &#8220;Sukapha Diwas&#8221; in honour of the founder of the Ahom kingdom.<\/li>\n<li>He was a 13th-century ruler who founded the Ahom kingdom that ruled Assam for six centuries.<\/li>\n<li>It was in Charaideo that Sukapha established his first small principality, sowing the seeds of further expansion of the Ahom kingdom.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Why is Sukapha important?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Sukapha\u2019s significance lies in his successful efforts towards assimilation of different communities and tribes.<\/li>\n<li>He is widely referred to as the architect of \u201cBor Asom\u201d or \u201cgreater Assam\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Sukapha developed very amiable relationships with the tribal communities living in Assam \u2014 especially the Sutias, the Morans and the Kacharis.<\/li>\n<li>Intermarriage also increased assimilation processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ahoms:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The founders of the Ahom kingdom had their own language and followed their own religion.
