new Cell Broadcast system to deliver real-time disaster alerts across India, enhancing emergency communication.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Cell Broadcasting System<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a technology used by <\/span><b>mobile network operators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>broadcast text messages<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to mobile users that are located in specific geographical areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The typical use for these kinds of messages is to send emergency alerts to mobile users.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In India, it is being tested as part of the government\u2019s broader initiative to <\/span><b>enhance real-time dissemination of critical alerts during emergencies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as earthquakes, tsunamis, lightning strikes, and industrial hazards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system is being indigenously developed by the <\/span><b>Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike SMS alerts, CB messages are broadcast to all mobile phones in <\/span><b>a specific area, ensuring rapid delivery <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">even in congested networks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The technology enables alerts to <\/span><b>reach citizens almost instantly,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> making it highly effective during time-sensitive disasters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This new system is in addition to the already-operational <\/span><b>Integrated Alert System (SACHET),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which has delivered over 6,899 crore SMS alerts in more than 19 Indian languages across all 36 States and Union Territories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SACHET is based on the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP), as recommended by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once fully operational, the CB system will broadcast alerts in multiple Indian languages to all mobile users, ensuring broad and inclusive public
