The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 12 February 2022. The scheme has been divided into two sub schemes for transgenders and for the ones engaged in begging.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SMILE Scheme has been launched with the goal of providing support and rehabilitation to marginalised people through welfare support, medical help, educational support, skill development and financial support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>SMILE Scheme Overview<\/h2>\n<p>SMILE Scheme focus is on helping the people who categorise in the marginalised group of individuals. This group includes scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, Persons with Disabilities. The SMILE Scheme will support these groups to set up their own enterprises in the following sectors:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agriculture and allied activities<\/li>\n<li>Handicrafts and handlooms<\/li>\n<li>Micro and small enterprises<\/li>\n<li>Tourism and hospitality<\/li>\n<li>Information and communication technology (ICT)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Individuals will be provided with skill training and support. The training will be provided by NSFDC and other training centres. The training would include entrepreneurship developments, marketing and planning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>SMILE Scheme Objectives<\/h2>\n<p>The SMILE Scheme has the following objectives:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide vocational education and skill improvement to marginalised people.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Provide financial support for setting up of businesses<\/li>\n<li>Sell sustainable options feasible for marginalized groups.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure society is more inclusive towards marginalised group businesses.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Features of SMILE Scheme<\/h2>\n<p>The features of SMILE Scheme are:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing training to marginalised groups to help them develop their skills to run their businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Providing financial support through grants, loans subsidies for running the businesses.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>By providing skills and proper business planning, the SMILE scheme can help build a more inclusive society.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Capacity building can be ensured through proper training, regular workshops, running of awareness camps etc. for the marginalised community.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>SMILE Scheme Eligibility\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Eligibility criteria for the SMILE Scheme includes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Scheduled Castes Community<\/strong>: The applicant must belong to the Scheduled Castes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Income Limit<\/strong>: The family&#8217;s annual income should not exceed \u20b93.00 lakh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Primary Breadwinner\u2019s Demise Due to COVID-19<\/strong>: The applicant must be an immediate relative of the deceased, who was the family\u2019s primary breadwinner and passed away due to COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Required Documentation<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>death certificate<\/strong>\u00a0issued by the Registrar of Births &amp;
