{"id":5320,"date":"2023-03-29T06:15:38","date_gmt":"2023-03-29T00:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5320"},"modified":"2025-03-27T05:37:49","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T00:07:49","slug":"national-capital-region-transport-corporation-ncrtc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-capital-region-transport-corporation-ncrtc\/","title":{"rendered":"National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is NCRTC?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The NCRTC is a joint partnership institution between the Central Government and the participating states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and the NCT of Delhi.<\/li>\n<li>It works under the administrative control of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> It is mandated for implementing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project across the NCR of India, ensuring a balanced and sustainable urban development through better connectivity and access.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Institutional Setup:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>NCRTC was formally incorporated on 21st August, 2013 as a <strong>Company under the Company Act, 1956.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>As a joint partnership project between the Center and the States, NCRTC would have <strong>one nominated Director each from the participating States, and four nominee Directors from the Government of India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Secretary (UD) is the ex-officio Chairman<\/strong> of the Board of Directors and the <strong>Managing Director, a nominee of MoUD<\/strong>. NCRTC also has the flexibility of forming separate subsidiary companies for implementing specific projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>National capital region (NCR) is a multi-state region with the National Capital as its centre. This region, spread over an area of about 55,083 sq. kms. , comprises the entire National Capital territory of Delhi and some parts of the neighbouring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.<\/li>\n<li>The National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB), in order to enhance the connectivity within the NCR, has proposed to connect urban, industrial (SEZs\/industrial parks), regional and sub-regional centres through a fast rail based Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).<\/li>\n<li>The objective of this system is to reduce dependence of commuters on road-based transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) How is RRTS different from Metro?<\/h3>\n<p>RRTS is different from conventional railway as it will provide reliable, high frequency, point-to-point regional travel at high speed along a dedicated pathway.
