{"id":53230,"date":"2025-07-03T12:54:49","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T07:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=53230"},"modified":"2025-07-03T14:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T08:32:07","slug":"c-flood-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/c-flood-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"C-FLOOD Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>C-FLOOD Platform Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister of Jal Shakti inaugurated the C-FLOOD platform.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About C-FLOOD Platform<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a <\/span><b>Unified Inundation Forecasting System.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is collaboratively developed by the <\/span><b>Centre for Development of Advanced Computing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (C-DAC), Pune and <\/span><b>Central Water Commission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CWC), Department of Water Resources, River Development &amp; Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD &amp; GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative, executed under the <\/span><b>National Supercomputing Mission (NSM)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> jointly steered by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Department of Science and Technology (DST), marks a transformative step towards <\/span><b>strengthening<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India\u2019s flood management and <\/span><b>disaster response framework.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of C-FLOOD<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a web-based platform that <\/span><b>provides two-days advance inundation forecasts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> up to <\/span><b>village level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the form of flood inundation maps and water level predictions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The platform will act as a unified system integrating <\/span><b>flood modelling outputs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from national and regional agencies, offering a comprehensive decision-support tool for disaster management authorities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At present, the system covers the Mahanadi, Godavari, and Tapi river basins, with more river basins to be incorporated in the future.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The C-FLOOD platform <\/span><b>uses advanced 2-D hydrodynamic modelling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to simulate flood scenarios.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The simulations for Mahanadi Basin are run on High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure under NSM at C-DAC Pune, with integration of outputs for Godavari and Tapi Basins, which have been developed by National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) under the National Hydrology Project (NHP).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2141608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>C\u2011FLOOD Platform is a unified inundation\u2011forecasting system that integrates data on rainfall, runoff, tides, and sea levels to deliver real\u2011time flood predictions and alerts.
