{"id":53387,"date":"2025-07-04T12:46:17","date_gmt":"2025-07-04T07:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=53387"},"modified":"2025-07-04T15:14:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T09:44:25","slug":"television-rating-point-trp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/television-rating-point-trp\/","title":{"rendered":"Television Rating Point (TRP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Television Rating Point Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting recently proposed amendments to the Policy Guidelines for Television Rating Agencies-2014 to ensure that the TRP system reflects the diverse and evolving media consumption habits of viewers across the country. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>About Television Rating Point<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a metric used to <\/span><b>measure the popularity and viewership of television programs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>more viewers a program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has, the <\/span><b>higher its TRP rating.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>calculated by measuring the viewership <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a particular program<\/span><b> over a period of time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, usually a week.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TRP ratings are used by broadcasters and advertisers to determine the popularity of different TV programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>According to the TRP<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of a TV channel or programme, <\/span><b>advertisers decide where to display their advertisements, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>investors will decide about the investment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the money.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>How is TRP Calculated in India?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TRP is <\/span><b>calculated by<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Indian agency the <\/span><b>Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) using \u201cBAR-O-meters&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, that are<\/span><b> installed in televisions in selected households.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BARC India is a <\/span><b>joint industry company<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> founded by stakeholder bodies that <\/span><b>represent broadcasters, advertisers, and advertising, and Media Agencies.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BARC has <\/span><b>installed \u201cBAR-O-meters\u201d in over 58,000 impanelled households.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These gadgets<\/span><b> record data about the channel or programme watched<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the family members or selected people.
