{"id":53503,"date":"2025-07-05T11:00:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T05:30:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=53503"},"modified":"2025-07-05T14:19:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T08:49:05","slug":"bharat-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bharat-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"BHARAT Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>BHARAT Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, launched a large-scale study called BHARAT.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About BHARAT Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BHARAT is a short for \u2018<\/span><b>Biomarkers of Healthy Aging, Resilience, Adversity, and Transitions\u2019,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as part of its Longevity India Program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study aims to map the <\/span><b>physiological, molecular, and environmental indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that drive ageing in <\/span><b>the Indian population.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Under this initiative researchers are <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">building India&#8217;s first comprehensive aging database through:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multiparametric analysis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advanced clinical assessment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lifestyle and environmental factors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comprehensive biomarker discovery<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is identifying biomarkers for healthy ageing and also <\/span><b>building the Bharat Baseline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 a reliable reference for what is normal in the Indian population.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its database will include <\/span><b>genomic biomarkers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (like mutations linked to disease susceptibility), <\/span><b>proteomic and metabolic indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (reflecting biological pathways and metabolic health), and environmental and lifestyle factors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will <\/span><b>challenge the western values<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for cholesterol, vitamin D, or B12 may label many Indians as deficient.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What are Biomarkers?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biomarkers, short for \u2018<\/span><b>Biological Markers\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are a <\/span><b>physical, chemical, or biological characteristic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that is present in the human body, and measurable too.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The WHO defines a biomarker as \u201cany measurement reflecting an interaction between a <\/span><b>biological system and a potential hazard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which may be chemical, physical, or biological.
