{"id":54080,"date":"2025-07-09T12:00:34","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T06:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=54080"},"modified":"2025-07-09T13:21:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T07:51:10","slug":"national-maritime-domain-awareness-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-maritime-domain-awareness-project\/","title":{"rendered":"National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Indian Navy recently signed a contract with M\/s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bengaluru for the implementation of National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>About National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed at s<\/span><b>trengthening maritime and coastal security.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will bring in an <\/span><b>integrated approach to data collation, analysis,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>information sharing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amongst the various maritime stakeholders.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project entails <\/span><b>upgradation of the existing National Command, Control, Communication, and Intelligence (NC3I) Network<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the NMDA Network along with the <\/span><b>incorporation of AI-enabled software <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for smarter surveillance and decision-making.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the project, the <\/span><b>existing Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurugram, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which is the <\/span><b>nodal centre of the NC3I Network<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will also<\/span><b> be upgraded into a Multi-Agency NMDA Centre.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This upgraded centre<\/span><b> will host personnel from 15 agencies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> spanning seven key ministries \u2014 including Defence, Shipping, Petroleum, Fisheries, and others \u2014 to ensure seamless coordination and information sharing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NMDA project will <\/span><b>link various maritime agencies, coastal states, and union territories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a unified operational picture of India\u2019s vast coastline and surrounding seas.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also<\/span><b> integrate data from sectors such as commercial shipping and fisheries, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">improving response capabilities to maritime threats, search-and-rescue missions, and environmental incidents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project, set to be <\/span><b>executed on a turnkey basis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will be <\/span><b>administered by the Indian Navy.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will serve as the <\/span><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">lead integrator,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> providing state-of-the-art hardware and AI-enabled software solutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2143191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project will bring in an integrated approach to data collation, analysis, and information sharing amongst the various maritime stakeholders.
