{"id":54561,"date":"2025-07-12T12:14:50","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T06:44:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=54561"},"modified":"2025-07-12T14:37:59","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T09:07:59","slug":"e-truck-incentive-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/e-truck-incentive-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"e-Truck Incentive Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>e-Truck Incentive Scheme Latest News<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the union minister for Heavy Industries &amp; Steel, Government of India, has launched a groundbreaking scheme to provide financial incentives for electric trucks (e-trucks) under the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-e-drive-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>PM E-DRIVE initiative<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About e-Truck Incentive Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>reduce operational costs for transporters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>encourage clean energy adoption<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the heavy vehicle segment, and <\/span><b>enhance air quality in urban<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and industrial regions bringing India closer to a sustainable, low-carbon future.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It helps to accelerate India\u2019s <\/span><b>transition to clean, efficient, and sustainable freight mobility.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the first time the Government of India is extending <\/span><b>direct support for electric trucks.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of the scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>demand incentives will be extended<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>N2 and N3 category electric trucks, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as defined under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The N2 category includes trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) above 3.5 tonnes and up to 12 tonnes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The N3 category covers trucks with GVW exceeding 12 tonnes and up to 55 tonnes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of articulated vehicles, incentives will apply only to the puller tractor of the N3 category.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure reliability and performance, the scheme mandates comprehensive manufacturer-backed warranties.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>battery must<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> be covered under a <\/span><b>warranty for five years or 5 lakh kilometres, whichever is earlier.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>vehicle and motor must<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have a warranty <\/span><b>of five years or 2.5 lakh kilometres, whichever is earlier.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To promote affordability, the incentive amount will depend on the GVW of the electric truck, with the <\/span><b>maximum incentive set at \u20b99.6 lakh per vehicle.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These <\/span><b>incentives <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be <\/span><b>offered as an upfront reduction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the purchase price and reimbursed to OEMs via the PM E-DRIVE portal on a <\/span><b>first-come, first-served basis.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2143995\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>e-Truck Incentive Scheme aims to reduce operational costs for transporters, encourage clean energy adoption in the heavy vehicle segment.
