The CDSCO ensures that medical devices comply with safety, quality, and efficacy standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It works under the <\/span><b>Directorate General of Health Services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Ministry of Health &amp; Family Welfare, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headed By: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Drugs Controller General of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DCGI) is the head of the CDSCO.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, <\/span><b>CDSCO is responsible for,<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approval of new drugs; Conduct of clinical trials; Laying down the standards for drugs; Control over the quality of imported drugs in the country; Coordination of the activities of State Drug Control Organizations;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CDSCO, along with state regulators, is jointly responsible for the <\/span><b>grant of licenses for certain specialized categories <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of critical drugs such as blood and blood products, I. V.
