{"id":55135,"date":"2025-07-16T12:33:40","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T07:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=55135"},"modified":"2025-07-16T13:29:33","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T07:59:33","slug":"prime-minister-professorships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/prime-minister-professorships\/","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Professorships"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Prime Minister Professorships Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) \u2014 the newly constituted body for funding scientific research \u2014 has announced the Prime Minister Professorships.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Prime Minister Professorships<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a prestigious initiative aimed at <\/span><b>fostering world-class research and innovation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within emerging institutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seeks to leverage the expertise of eminent scientists, senior faculty, and accomplished industry professionals to <\/span><b>provide mentorship and support to faculty and students<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in less-endowed state universities, thereby strengthening their research and development culture.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To utilize the extensive knowledge and experience of active, eminent, and superannuated\/retired scientists and professionals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Duration:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The tenure of the PM Professorship will be up to 5 years, based on performance evaluated by the expert committee constituted for the purpose.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Age limit:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Superannuated on the date of application (no upper age limit)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding Support:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A PM Professor will receive a fellowship of Rs. 30 lakh plus Rs. 24 lakh as research grant (consumables, domestic travel, contingencies, equipment etc.) per annum. Also, an overhead of a fixed amount of Rs.1 lakh per year to be provided under the program.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Eligibility Criteria for Prime Minister Professorship<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Superannuated faculty or scientists from reputed <\/span><b>Indian institutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, research laboratories or from <\/span><b>private institutions are eligible to apply<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Overseas scientists<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014including <\/span><b>Non-Resident Indians<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NRIs), <\/span><b>Persons of Indian Origin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PIOs), and <\/span><b>Overseas Citizens of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (OCIs)\u2014are also encouraged to apply under this scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, professionals from <\/span><b>industry\/ experienced Professor of Practice<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a distinguished record of research and innovation may also apply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants with strong research credentials, must be actively involved in research and innovation activities, and demonstrate a strong commitment to mentor faculty at the eligible state universities where research and innovation is still at a nascent stage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eligible host institutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the state universities which have been qualified as spoke institutions in <\/span><b>Category A of recently awarded PAIR program of ANRF<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (see category list here) Applicants must\u00a0 be willing to relocate to the proposed host institution on full time basis and should have a proper\u00a0 plan to contribute significantly to the development of its research capabilities and innovation culture.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/science\/anrf-unveils-pm-professorships-to-bolster-research-in-state-universities\/article69815381.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>TH<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PM Professorships is a top initiative to boost research and innovation by attracting top talent to emerging institutions across India.
