{"id":5600,"date":"2025-11-08T05:37:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T00:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5600"},"modified":"2025-11-10T16:41:53","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T11:11:53","slug":"dark-pattern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/dark-pattern\/","title":{"rendered":"Dark Pattern"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Dark Pattern:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Dark patterns are defined as <strong>any deceptive design patterns<\/strong> using user interface\/user experience interactions on any platform.<\/li>\n<li>The term was coined by <strong>Harry Brignull<\/strong> in 2010.\n<ul>\n<li>They are designed to <strong>mislead or trick users<\/strong> to do something they originally did not intend or want to do;<\/li>\n<li>It is done by subverting or impairing the consumer autonomy, decision making or choice; amounting to misleading advertisement or unfair trade practice or violation of consumer rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Central Consumer Protection Authority<\/strong> notified the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns in 2023 and specified <strong>13 dark patterns,<\/strong> namely:\n<ul>\n<li>False urgency, Basket Sneaking, Confirm shaming, forced action, Subscription trap, Interface Interference, Bait and switch, Drip Pricing, Disguised Advertisements and Nagging, Trick Wording, Saas Billing and Rogue Malwares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Key points about &#8216;Jago Grahak Jago App,&#8217; &#8216;Jagriti App,&#8217; and \u2018Jagriti Dashboard\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These are part of an <strong>intelligent cyber-physical system<\/strong>, which operates in real-time and runs on the Airawat AI Supercomputer under the National Supercomputing Mission for AI and Data Analytics.<\/li>\n<li>This innovative system analyses existing text and design elements on e-commerce platforms to determine whether they are being used to influence consumer psychology.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8216;Jago Grahak Jago App: <\/strong>Itprovides <strong>essential e-commerce information<\/strong> about all URLs during a consumer\u2019s online activities, alerting them if any URL may be unsafe and requires caution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8216;Jagriti App: <\/strong>It allows <strong>users to report URLs<\/strong> where they suspect the presence of one or more dark patterns declared illegal.
