{"id":5612,"date":"2025-09-22T12:10:39","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T06:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5612"},"modified":"2025-09-22T13:17:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T07:47:46","slug":"the-national-archives-of-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/the-national-archives-of-india\/","title":{"rendered":"National Archives of India"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Archives of India<\/b> <b>Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the 50th Golden Jubilee Meeting of the National Committee of Archivists (NCA), organized by the National Archives of India (NAI).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Archives of India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>custodian of the records<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of enduring <\/span><b>value of the Government of India.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>History of National Archives of India<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>originally established<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the <\/span><b>Imperial Record Department<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on 11 March 1891 in Kolkata (Calcutta).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>transferred to New Delhi in 1911.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NAI also serves as the nodal agency for implementing the <\/span><b>Public Records Act, 1993, and the Public Record Rules, 1997.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A significant portion of its oriental records is in <\/span><b>Sanskrit, Persian, Odia, and other languages.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Access to the records in the NAI is governed by the provisions of <\/span><b>the Public Records Rules, 1997.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NAI keeps and conserves records of the government of India and its organisations.
