{"id":56152,"date":"2026-07-15T12:08:28","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T06:38:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=56152"},"modified":"2026-07-15T15:33:37","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T10:03:37","slug":"codex-alimentarius-commission-cac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/codex-alimentarius-commission-cac\/","title":{"rendered":"Codex Alimentarius Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Codex Alimentarius Commission Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India achieved significant milestones at the 49th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC49) held in Geneva, Switzerland.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Codex Alimentarius Commission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the international <\/span><b>food standards-setting body.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established jointly by the <\/span><b>Food and Agriculture Organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FAO) and the<\/span><b> World Health Organization (WHO) in May 1963.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Protecting <\/span><b>consumer\u2019s health<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and ensuring fair practices in the food trade.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Headquarters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has its headquarters in Rome.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Membership<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Membership of the Commission is <\/span><b>open to all Member Nations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Associate Members of FAO and WHO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which are interested in international food standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently the CAC has 189 Codex <\/span><b>Members made up of 188 Member<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Countries and 1 Member Organization (The European Union).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>India became<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a member <\/span><b>of CAC in 1964.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Governance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The CAC consists of the following main organizational elements:Commission;
