


{"id":56886,"date":"2025-07-26T15:04:47","date_gmt":"2025-07-26T09:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=56886"},"modified":"2025-07-26T15:33:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-26T10:03:43","slug":"indian-regional-navigation-satellite-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-regional-navigation-satellite-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISRO will launch three navigation satellites for its Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) by 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is India\u2019s <\/span><b>independent regional navigation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> satellite system also known as <\/span><b>NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is developed in India by the <\/span><b>Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IRNSS envisages the establishment of a regional navigational satellite system using a combination of geosynchronous orbit(GEO) and geostationary orbit (GSO) spacecraft and state-of-the-art ground systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Area covered:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> IRNSS-NavIC is designed to provide accurate position information service to users in India and the region <\/span><b>extending up to 1500 km<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from its boundary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>IRNSS-NavIC network:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> NavIC is designed with a <\/span><b>constellation of seven satellites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a network of ground stations operating around the clock.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Three satellites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are placed <\/span><b>in GSO.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Four<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> satellites are placed in <\/span><b>inclined GEO.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IRNSS provides two types of services, namely:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Standard Positioning Service<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SPS) \u2013 that is provided to all users.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Restricted Service<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RS) \u2013 an encrypted service provided only to authorised users.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The signals of the other global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou provide interoperability with those of the NavIC SPS signals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/technology\/science\/3-navigation-satellites-to-be-launched-by-2026-10147979\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IE<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System is India\u2019s independent regional navigation satellite system also known as NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation).
