{"id":56972,"date":"2025-07-27T17:19:26","date_gmt":"2025-07-27T11:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=56972"},"modified":"2025-07-28T15:21:28","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:51:28","slug":"raorchestes-jadoh-and-raorchestes-jakoid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/raorchestes-jadoh-and-raorchestes-jakoid\/","title":{"rendered":"Raorchestes Jadoh and Raorchestes Jakoid"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Raorchestes Jadoh and Raorchestes Jakoid Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, two new bush frogs were discovered in Meghalaya and researchers named them as Raorchestes jadoh and Raorchestes jakoid.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Raorchestes Jadoh and Raorchestes Jakoid<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are <\/span><b>bush frog<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> species belongs to genus Raorchestes\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Raorchestes jadoh <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recorded from Langtor in the <\/span><b>Eastern West Khasi Hills <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">district at an altitude of 1,655 metres above the mean sea level and Raorchestes jakoid was found in the <\/span><b>East Khasi Hills district\u2019s Lawbah<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at an elevation of 815 metres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Habitat:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These frogs were located in <\/span><b>bushes and trees near human settlements.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both these species are <\/span><b>direct-developing frog<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> i.e these frogs are those that <\/span><b>bypass the free-swimming tadpole stage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and hatch from eggs as froglets or miniature versions of the adults.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The genus Raorchestes is one of the most diverse in the family Rhacophoridae, currently comprising 80 recognised species.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two frogs\u2019 unique calls, morphology, and DNA sequences have placed them within the Raorchestes parvulus species complex.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This genus has a wide geographical range from southern and northeastern India to Nepal, extending through Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and southern China, reaching Vietnam, Cambodia, and western Malaysia.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/energy-and-environment\/new-frog-from-meghalaya-named-after-khasi-rice-dish\/article69859620.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TH<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New frog species Raorchestes jadoh and jakoid from Meghalaya bypass the tadpole stage and belong to the diverse Raorchestes genus of bush frogs.
