{"id":5708,"date":"2022-12-13T10:38:03","date_gmt":"2022-12-13T05:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5708"},"modified":"2025-03-27T10:27:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T04:57:17","slug":"what-is-the-new-india-literacy-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-new-india-literacy-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the New India Literacy Programme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About<\/strong> <strong>New India Literacy Programme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Objectives<\/strong>: It aims to support the States and Union Territories in promoting literacy among non-literates in the age group of 15 and above.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Components<\/strong>: (i) Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (ii) Critical Life Skills, (iii) Vocational Skills Development, (iv) Basic Education and (v) Continuing Education.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage<\/strong>: The programme aims to cover a target of 5.00 crore learners during the five years under Foundational Literacy and Numeracy component.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Funding<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Central and State shares are in the ratio of 60:40 for all States.<\/li>\n<li>North Eastern Region (NER) and Himalayan States where the sharing pattern between the Centre and the State is in the ratio of 90:10.<\/li>\n<li>For UTs with legislature the ratio is 60:40, except in the UT of Jammu &amp; Kashmir where the ratio is 90:10<\/li>\n<li>For all other UTs without legislature the Central share is 100%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is NISHTHA?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>NISHTHA is an acronym for National Initiative for School Heads\u2019 &amp; Teachers\u2019 Holistic Advancement.
