government and the World Bank recently signed financing agreements worth $515 million for the 1,125 MW Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project, with nearly 80% of its 4,500 GWh annual generation set to be supplied to India. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a r<\/span><b>un-of-river project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be built on the <\/span><b>Kurichhu River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>eastern Bhutan.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kurichhu River is a <\/span><b>tributary of the Drangmechhu River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that <\/span><b>flows into India as Manas River.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a planned capacity of<\/span><b> 1,125 MW<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the project is expected to generate over 4,500 GWh of clean electricity annually.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At a height of approximately 139.5\u202fm, the project involves a <\/span><b>concrete-gravity dam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and an <\/span><b>underground powerhouse<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> housing six Francis turbines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At a total project cost of \u20b913,100 crore, Dorjilung will be <\/span><b>Bhutan\u2019s second-largest hydropower project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>largest <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/public-private-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\">Public\u2013Private Partnership<\/a> (PPP) hydro project <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ever undertaken in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is<\/span><b> financed by the World Bank.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is being<\/span><b> developed by Dorjilung Hydro Power Limited,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a <\/span><b>joint venture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between <\/span><b>Bhutan\u2019s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) and India\u2019s Tata Power,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with DGPC and Tata Power holding equity shares of 60% and 40%, respectively.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is slated for commissioning in September
