{"id":5764,"date":"2022-12-24T12:07:29","date_gmt":"2022-12-24T06:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=5764"},"modified":"2025-03-27T10:46:40","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T05:16:40","slug":"15-startups-selected-for-the-nirman-accelerator-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/15-startups-selected-for-the-nirman-accelerator-program\/","title":{"rendered":"15 startups selected for the NIRMAN Accelerator Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is the NIRMAN Accelerator Program?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This is the first cohort of the NIRMAN Accelerator Program launched by Start-ups Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) IIT Kanpur.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The accelerator program is supported by the <strong>Department of Science and Technology<\/strong> (DST) under the Ministry of Science &amp; Technology through its <strong>NIDHI scheme.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What is National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) scheme?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an umbrella programme conceived and developed by <strong>the Innovation &amp; Entrepreneurship division, Department of Science &amp; Technology<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To nurture start-ups through scouting, supporting and scaling innovations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key stakeholders<\/strong>: Various departments and ministries of the central government, state governments, academic and R &amp; D institutions, mentors, financial institutions, angel investors, venture capitalists and private sectors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding: <\/strong>By the National Science &amp; Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB).<\/li>\n<li><strong>NIDHI Accelerator:<\/strong> An accelerator is typically a 3-6 months fast track structured program helping ideas get accelerated to the next orbit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Objectives of NIDHI-Accelerators<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To fast-track the growth of potential start-ups<\/strong> through rigorous mentoring and networking support in a short span through existing TBIs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To attract subject matter experts<\/strong>, mentors, and angel investors to get associated with technology Business Incubators through structured accelerator programs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To build a vibrant start-up ecosystem<\/strong>, by establishing a network between academia, financial institutions, industries and other institutions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To act as a hub for several incubators<\/strong> in the region, so that high-potential start-ups can be fast-tracked for increased exposure and validation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Characteristics of NIDHI -Accelerator Programs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0It is envisaged that 2 broad types of Accelerator Programs will be supported by NSTEDB under this scheme<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sectoral Programs<\/strong>: These are accelerator programs focused specifically on start-ups focused on a certain sector or theme.
