The <\/span>Rashtriya Gokul Mission<\/b> is a <\/span>Central Sector Scheme<\/b> launched in December <\/span>2014<\/b> by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to <\/span>conserve indigenous bovine breeds and improve their genetic quality and productivity.<\/b><\/p>\n

      • Modern Reproductive Technologies<\/b>: Supports Artificial Insemination (AI), Sex-Sorted Semen, <\/span>In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)<\/span> and Embryo Transfer Technology (ETT) for rapid genetic improvement.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Digital Livestock Architecture<\/b>: Implements e-GOPALA, Bharat Pashudhan and\u00a0 <\/span>INDUS Indigenous Genomic Chip (INDUS Chip <\/b>to strengthen livestock identification, breeding and digital advisory services.<\/span>\n

        • Bharat Pashudhan<\/b>: A digital database under the National Digital Livestock Mission (NDLM) that provides unique identification and traceability of livestock through animal tagging.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • e-GOPALA App<\/b>: A farmer-oriented digital platform providing information on livestock health, breeding services, disease management and availability of quality germplasm.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • INDUS Indigenous Genomic Chip<\/b>: It is developed for genomic selection of superior indigenous cattle breeds by identifying animals with desirable genetic traits at an early age.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Farmer Capacity Building<\/b>: Provides training, technical assistance and scientific livestock management support to farmers and breeding professionals.<\/span><\/li>\n

          Rashtriya Gokul Mission Achievements<\/b><\/h2>\n

          The Rashtriya Gokul Mission has significantly contributed to improving India\u2019s dairy sector and indigenous bovine development.<\/span><\/p>\n

          • Milk production increased from 146.3 million tonnes (2014-15) to 247.87 million tonnes (2024-25, provisional).<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Per capita milk availability increased from 319 grams\/day in 2014-15 to 485 grams\/day in 2024-25.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Overall milk productivity increased by about 26.34% during the last decade.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Scientific breeding and genomic technologies have accelerated the genetic improvement of indigenous bovine breeds.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • The mission supports the livelihoods of nearly 8.5 crore dairy farmers.<\/span><\/li>\n

            Rashtriya Gokul Mission Recent Reforms\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

            The Union Cabinet approved major reforms to strengthen the implementation of the mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

            • Enhanced the total scheme outlay from \u20b92,400 crore to \u20b93,400 crore.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Approved the establishment of 30 Heifer Rearing Centres for producing High Genetic Merit (HGM) animals.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Introduced 3% interest subvention on loans for purchasing High Genetic Merit IVF heifers.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Expanded IVF laboratories, embryo production facilities and genomic breeding programmes.<\/span><\/li>\n
