{"id":57779,"date":"2025-08-02T13:02:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T07:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=57779"},"modified":"2025-08-02T13:02:32","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T07:32:32","slug":"indo-burma-ramsar-regional-initiative-ibrri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indo-burma-ramsar-regional-initiative-ibrri\/","title":{"rendered":"Indo-Burma Ramsar Regional Initiative (IBRRI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indo-Burma Ramsar Regional Initiative (IBRRI) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ramsar COP15 concluded with a side event of Indo-Burma Ramsar Regional Initiative (IBRRI) for wetland conservation and restoration.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indo-Burma Ramsar Regional Initiative (IBRRI)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was jointly developed by the Ramsar National Focal Points (NFPs) <\/span><b>Cambodia, Lao People\u2019s Democratic Republic (PDR), Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and IUCN\u2019s Asia Regional Office.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>supported by IUCN\u2019s BRIDGE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Building River Dialogue and Governance) project.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to support the coordinated implementation of the objectives of the <\/span><b>Strategic Plan of the Ramsar Convention.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure oversight and transparency in the management of the IBRRI, the initiative has established a governance structure with representatives from both government and non\u2010governmental organisations:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Steering Committee:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It includes representatives from Ramsar Administrative Authorities from the five countries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Secretariat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: It is <\/span><b>hosted by the IUCN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Asia Regional Office in Bangkok.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Stakeholder Committee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides technical and strategic guidance as a platform for inclusive, transparent and multi-stakeholder engagement in IBBRI activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IBRRI officially <\/span><b>launched its Strategic Plan 2025\u20132030<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during a side event at the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Plan sets out a collaborative, transboundary framework to halt and reverse the loss of wetlands across its Member States.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/iucn.org\/news\/202507\/ramsar-cop15-concludes-strengthened-global-commitment-wetland-restoration-and-inclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IUCN<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indo-Burma Ramsar Regional Initiative (IBRRI) was jointly developed by the Ramsar National Focal Points (NFPs) Cambodia, Lao People\u2019s Democratic Republic (PDR), Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, and IUCN\u2019s Asia Regional Office.
