text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parthenium hysterophorus L., commonly known as <\/span><b>carrot weed, white top, or congress grass<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India, is an <\/span><b>herbaceous, erect,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> annual plant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> belonging to the family Asteracae (compositae).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>poisonous, pernicious, problematic, allergic, and aggressive weed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> posing a serious threat to human beings and livestock.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In India, this weed has been considered as one of the greatest <\/span><b>sources of dermatitis, asthma, nasal-dermal and nasal-bronchial types of diseases.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides ill effects, it <\/span><b>also causes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> several other problems, like <\/span><b>blockage of common pathways, and reduces the aesthetic values of parks, gardens, and residential colonies.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>nuisance on roadsides <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and railway tracks, vacant <\/span><b>lands, wastelands, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">industrial areas, and on the sides of open drainage systems and irrigation canals, besides <\/span><b>invading agricultural crops, orchards, and forest areas.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is most <\/span><b>popularly known as gajar ghas<\/b> <b>due to its appearance like a carrot plant.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>origin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of parthenium is considered to be from <\/span><b>Mexico, America, Trinidad, and Argentina.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the noticeable <\/span><b>occurrence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of parthenium <\/span><b>in Pune (Maharashtra) in 1955,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it has <\/span><b>spread like a wildfire throughout India.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At present parthenium has invaded about <\/span><b>35 million hectares of land in India.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It mainly<\/span><b> spreads through seeds.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><b>single plant <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can <\/span><b>produce about 5000 \u2013 25000 seeds.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
