The lagoon area is 30.60 sq.km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The island is about 2 m above the mean sea level on the western side and about 3 to 4 m on the eastern side, and is 11 km long.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>lighthouse of the island<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is<\/span><b> one of the oldest and was constructed in 1885.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minicoy is<\/span><b> set apart from the Northern group of islands by its culture.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main attraction of the island is its <\/span><b>carefully arranged villages, known as \u2018Avah\u2019.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Each Avah<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has its <\/span><b>own internal organization headed by a Moopan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, around which the life of the community rests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Every village has its own village house<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
