This law continues to be a foundation of India\u2019s wildlife conservation strategy and its implementation has evolved through amendments, particularly in line with global conventions such as CITES. Wildlife includes animals (terrestrial and aquatic), plants, insects, fish, and vegetation forming part of any habitat.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Establishment of Wildlife Advisory Boards<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Constituted at the state level to advise on:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selection and management of Sanctuaries and National Parks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conservation policies for wildlife and plants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harmonizing tribal needs with conservation goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Schedules of the WPA<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act categorizes flora and fauna into six schedules with varying levels of protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule I &amp; II: Endangered species; absolute protection; highest penalties (1\u20136 years imprisonment + fine). Example: Tiger, Elephant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule III &amp; IV: Species not endangered; lesser penalties. Example: Hyena, Nilgai.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule V: Vermin species that may be hunted with license. Example: Crows, Rats.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule VI: Regulation of cultivation and trade of specific plants. Example: Beddomes\u2019 cycad.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Hunting Regulations<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">General ban on hunting animals from Schedules I\u2013IV.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chief Wildlife Warden may grant permits if animals pose danger or are diseased.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Permits can also be issued for education, scientific research, and zoological purposes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5.
