{"id":61264,"date":"2025-08-30T12:57:18","date_gmt":"2025-08-30T07:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=61264"},"modified":"2025-08-30T14:19:31","modified_gmt":"2025-08-30T08:49:31","slug":"lupex-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/lupex-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"LUPEX Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>LUPEX Mission Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Prime Minister of India welcomed the agreement between the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency for the Chandrayaan-5 mission under the Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) programme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About LUPEX Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is jointly developed<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by <\/span><b>ISRO and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To <\/span><b>explore the moon\u2019s southern polar region<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, investigating the presence of water and other elements, potentially in the form of surface ice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>aims<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to showcase <\/span><b>innovative surface exploration technologies.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The special focus is on vehicular transport and lunar night survival.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It features both a <\/span><b>lander and a rover.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JAXA is <\/span><b>responsible for developing and operating the rover<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>ISRO <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for developing and <\/span><b>operating the lander that<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will carry the rover.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rover will drive on its own to search for areas where water is likely to be present and sample the soil by digging into the ground with a drill.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plan is to acquire data by analyzing the collected samples in detail with observation equipment mounted on the rover.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rover will be equipped with instruments for <\/span><b>measuring the water content of regolith<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (lunar sand), drilling, and sampling, as well as with other world-first and world-leading technologies for the driving system and batteries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rover will carry not only the instruments of<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/isro\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> ISRO<\/strong> <\/a>and JAXA but also those of the US space agency NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/ddnews.gov.in\/en\/pm-modi-welcomes-isro-jaxa-collaboration-for-chandrayaan-5-lupex-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DD News<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LUPEX Mission jointly developed by ISRO and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
