Ladakh.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Zojila Pass<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zojila Pass, also known <\/span><b>as \u2018The Mountain Pass of Blizzards\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is a high mountain pass located in the <\/span><b>Kargil district of Ladakh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located on the <\/span><b>Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway (<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NH-1) at a height of 11,650 feet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It lies in the <\/span><b>Greater Himalayan Range.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pass remains closed for almost half of the year due to heavy snowfall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>History<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was the site of the <\/span><b>Indo-Pakistan War of 1947-48<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was captured by militias aided by the Pakistan Army in 1848, with the ultimate aim of capturing Ladakh.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the pass itself was captured by the Indian Army on 1st November 1948, in an assault codenamed Operation Bison.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is an avalanche?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>large amount of snow<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that quickly moves down a slope.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be deadly because it will bury or sweep away anything in its path.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many different conditions make an avalanche possible.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An avalanche is more likely to happen on a slope without trees or large rocks.These things help to keep snow in place.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"
