{"id":6179,"date":"2023-03-17T03:08:01","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T21:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6179"},"modified":"2025-10-15T14:22:20","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T08:52:20","slug":"what-is-the-integrated-mobile-camouflage-systems-imcs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-integrated-mobile-camouflage-systems-imcs\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Integrated Mobile Camouflage Systems (IMCS)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the <strong>first-ever procurement<\/strong> order of an <strong>Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) project<\/strong> <strong>by the Indian Army.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>About Integrated Mobile Camouflage Systems (IMCS):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It <strong>comprises low emissivity<\/strong> and\/or CAM-IIR <strong>coatings<\/strong> and <strong>mobile camouflage system materials<\/strong> <strong>that enable<\/strong> armoured fighting vehicles (<strong>AFVs<\/strong>) <strong>to blend<\/strong> in with their <strong>terrain background.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>achieves a reduction in the detection range of AFVs<\/strong> <strong>when viewed through<\/strong> a Hand Held <strong>Thermal Imager<\/strong> (HHTI)\/Battle Field <strong>Surveillance Radar <\/strong>(BFSR) tank-<strong>based thermal camera<\/strong> under given environmental and weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>achieves signature management by controlling<\/strong> the <strong>Visual, Thermal<\/strong>, infrared, and Radar <strong>Signatures of the object<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It will provide significant capability <strong>enhancement in stealth for AFVs<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key Facts about Defence Excellence (iDEX) project:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The iDEX initiative was <strong>launched<\/strong> by the Government <strong>in April 2018.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: To achieve <strong>self-reliance<\/strong> and <strong>foster<\/strong> <strong>innovation<\/strong> and technology development in <strong>Defence and Aerospace<\/strong> <strong>by engaging Industries<\/strong> including MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&amp;D institutes, <strong>and<\/strong> <strong>academia<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>iDEX is <strong>funded and managed<\/strong> by <strong>Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO)<\/strong> under the <strong>Ministry of Defence.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is an Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV)?<\/h3>\n<p>An armored fighting vehicle (AFV) is a military vehicle that is protected by armor and armed with weapons.
