Forest Department shows that Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary accounted for nearly half of the poaching cases and illegal arms cases registered in the last 16 years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is located at the intersection of the <\/span><b>Western and the Eastern Ghats<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and falls in the Chamarajanagara District of <\/span><b>Karnataka.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2013.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is contiguous to <\/span><b>Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple (BRT) Tiger Reserve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, and the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s the home of the famous Male Mahadeshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as Mahadeshwara.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Male Mahadeshwara Hills is bound by the <\/span><b>Kaveri River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the northeast and by <\/span><b>the Palar River to the south.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It mainly consists of the <\/span><b>dry deciduous type,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> degrading to scrub forest in the fringe areas, and interspersed with patches of moist deciduous, semi-evergreen, evergreen and shola forests occurring at varying altitudes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Anogeissus latifolia, Boswellia serrata, Hardwikia binata and Chloroxylon swietenia etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is home to elephants, Indian bison,tigers, wild dogs, leopards, foxes, sambars, spotted deer, and many species of
