text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A UDID card is a<\/span><b> single document of identification for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>universal ID <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that is<\/span><b> accepted all across the country.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rights-of-persons-with-disabilities-act\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act<\/a><\/strong>, 2016, <\/span><b>UDID cards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be <\/span><b>issued by home district hospitals as well as the hospital where the PwD is taking <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical <\/span><b>treatment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UDID card has a total of <\/span><b>18 digits\/characters.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>\ufb01rst 2 characters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> represent <\/span><b>State Code,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the next <\/span><b>2 digits for the district<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> code, the next <\/span><b>1 digit for the CMO code<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the next <\/span><b>2 digits for disability type<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the next <\/span><b>4 digits for year of birth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of PwD, the following <\/span><b>6 digits for running number,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>last digit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for check sum which is involved for <\/span><b>security reasons.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Three types of colour-<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">based UDID Cards are issued based on the severity of the disability:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>White Card:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When the <\/span><b>disability percentage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a PwD is <\/span><b>below 40%.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Yellow Card:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> When the disability percentage of a PwD is <\/span><b>above 40% but on or below 80%<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Blue Card: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the disability percentage of a PwD is <\/span><b>above 80%.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Unique ID for Persons with Disabilities Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UDID Project is initiated by the <\/span><b>Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being implemented to create a <\/span><b>national database of<\/b> <b>PwDs and issue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a Unique Disability Identity Card (<\/span><b>UDID<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) to each individual.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also aids in tracking the physical and financial progress of beneficiaries across various administrative levels \u2014 village, block, district, state, and national.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to build a comprehensive <\/span><b>end-to-end system for<\/b> <b>issuing Universal IDs and Disability Certificates. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This <\/span><b>system includes:<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nationwide availability of PwD data through a centralized web application.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Online application submission for Disability Certificate\/UDID card <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(offline submissions are also allowed and digitized later).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Efficient assessment process by hospitals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or Medical Boards to calculate disability percentage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Elimination of duplicate PwD records.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Online renewal and update<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of information by or on behalf of PwDs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Management Information System (MIS) reporting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> framework.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Integrated management of various <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">government<\/span><b> benefits\/schemes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for PwDs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Support for additional disabilities in the future<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (currently 21 disabilities, subject to updates).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/epaper.thehindu.com\/ccidist-ws\/th\/th_delhi\/issues\/146682\/OPS\/GT2ERO64C.1+GFNERQGQ5.1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>TH<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card is a single document of identification for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
