Production dipped to 16.35 million tonnes (MT) in 2015-16, necessitating 6 MT of imports.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, government interventions, including the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-food-security-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>National Food Security Mission<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NFSM) and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/minimum-support-price-msp\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Minimum Support Price<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MSP) policies, improved output significantly.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By 2022-23, production rose by nearly 59.4% to 26.06 MT, with productivity increasing by 38%.
