text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network (CoWIN)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> portal was launched on<\/span><b> January 16, 2021, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as a<\/span><b> digital platform for the administration of COVID-19 vaccination<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Citizens can locate nearby vaccination centers, check slot availability,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>book appointments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> online.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also <\/span><b>provides access to vaccination certificates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> updates on vaccination drives.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CoWIN platform is <\/span><b>owned by the Ministry of Health and Family<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Welfare and was earlier the platform used for conducting Pulse Polio and other crucial immunisation programmes across the country.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same platform has been expanded for doling out Covid-19 vaccines and the <\/span><b>Ministry of Electronics and IT, along with the National Informatics Center <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>handling the backend and the tech infrastructure <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for it.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This platform <\/span><b>assists the program managers across all levels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through <\/span><b>automated session allocation for pre-registered beneficiaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>their verification,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and for <\/span><b>generating a digital certificate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> upon successful completion of the vaccine schedule.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system allows for <\/span><b>creation of users<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (admins, supervisors, vaccinators),<\/span><b> registration of beneficiaries <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(bulk upload and individual registration),<\/span><b> facilities\/planning unit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>session sites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> followed by planning and <\/span><b>scheduling sessions,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and implementation of the vaccination process.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CoWIN system <\/span><b>on a real-time basis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will <\/span><b>track not only the beneficiaries but also the vaccines at the national, state and the district levels.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will allow the system to <\/span><b>monitor the utilization, wastage, and coverage of COVID-19 vaccination <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at National, State, District and Sub-District level.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
