{"id":6275,"date":"2023-03-20T10:09:10","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T04:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=6275"},"modified":"2025-03-27T13:50:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-27T08:20:26","slug":"national-agricultural-cooperative-marketing-federation-of-india-ltd-nafed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-agricultural-cooperative-marketing-federation-of-india-ltd-nafed\/","title":{"rendered":"National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About NAFED:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>NAFED is an apex organization of <strong>marketing cooperatives for agricultural produce<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<li>It was founded on 2 October 1958 to promote the trade of agricultural produce and forest resources across the nation.<\/li>\n<li>It is registered under the Multi<strong> State Co-operative Societies Act.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>With its headquarters in New Delhi, NAFED has four regional offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, apart from 28 zonal offices in capitals of states and important cities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What are the Functions?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the nodal agency to implement price stabilization measures under <strong>&#8220;Operation Greens&#8221;<\/strong> which aims to double the farmers&#8217; income by 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Along with FCI the NAFED is involved in the procurement of oilseeds, pulses and copra under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is Operation Greens?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In the budget 2018-19, a new Scheme \u201cOperation Greens\u201d was announced on the line of \u201cOperation Flood\u201d, with an outlay of Rs.500 crore.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> To stabilize the supply of <strong>Tomato, Onion and Potato (TOP) crops<\/strong> and to ensure the availability of TOP crops throughout the country around the year without price volatility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a Co-operative Society?<\/h3>\n<p>A Co-operative Society is an organization that is formed by a group of people whose primary objective is the promotion of the economic interests of its members.
