


{"id":62760,"date":"2025-09-10T15:13:46","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T09:43:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=62760"},"modified":"2025-09-10T15:13:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T09:43:46","slug":"swachh-vayu-survekshan-svs-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/swachh-vayu-survekshan-svs-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Swachh Vayu Survekshan (SVS) 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025 Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indore, India&#8217;s cleanest city, topped the &#8216;Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025&#8217; for air pollution mitigation, despite a slight PM10 increase.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SVS is an <\/span><b>annual survey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conducted by the<\/span><b> Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) under t<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he <\/span><b>National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is structured as a rigorous, multi-tiered evaluation mechanism, founded on comprehensive due diligence under the NCAP.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme is conducted annually for <\/span><b>130 cities under NCAP to promote healthy competition among cities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and encourage them to take expeditious actions <\/span><b>to improve air quality.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SVS assesses cities on <\/span><b>eight key parameters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including <\/span><b>road dust mitigation, solid waste management,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> v<\/span><b>ehicular and industrial emission control,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> C&amp;D <\/span><b>waste handling, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>public awareness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as well as measurable <\/span><b>improvements in particulate matter levels.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Highlights of <\/b><b>Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Indore topped<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>list of million-plus-population cities <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the SVS 2025. <\/span><b>Jabalpur and Agra\/Surat followed.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has put Navi <\/span><b>Mumbai at 4th <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">position, <\/span><b>Kanpur at 5th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Bhopal at 6th, Allahabad at 7th, Chandigarh at 8th, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Nagpur at 10th, Varanasi and Raipur at 11th, Lucknow at 15th, Hyderabad at 22nd, Mumbai at 25th, Jaipur at 26th, Delhi at 32nd,<\/span><b> Bengaluru at 36th, Kolkata at 38th,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Chennai at 41st<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the list of million-plus-population cities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Amravati <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">secured <\/span><b>first rank in the 3-10 lakh population category,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> followed by <\/span><b>Jhansi and Moradabad (joint second rank)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Alwar (third <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rank).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the third category of<\/span><b> cities (population under 3 lakh)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Dewas (MP) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">secured <\/span><b>first rank, followed by Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Angul (Odisha).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>PM10 levels went down in 103 out of the 130 cities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under NCAP.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Mumbai <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">registered the <\/span><b>highest decline of 44% in PM10 level in 2024-25<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> compared to 2017-18.
