{"id":63311,"date":"2025-09-13T13:53:44","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T08:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=63311"},"modified":"2025-09-13T13:54:27","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T08:24:27","slug":"border-wing-home-guards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/border-wing-home-guards\/","title":{"rendered":"Border Wing Home Guards"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Border Wing Home Guards Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is contemplating a plan to raise Border Wing Home Guards (BWHG) along the border with China, similar to the guards on the India-Pakistan border.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Border Wing Home Guards<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It acts as <\/span><b>ancillaries to the Army<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and other <\/span><b>border forces during emergencies.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Home Guards are raised under the <\/span><b>Home Guards Act and Rules of the States\/Union Territories.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are <\/span><b>seven States<\/b> <b>authorised to have BWHGs:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, West Bengal, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Rajasthan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the only State which has BWHGs in the present times.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They perform the responsibilities of a Constable and are usually enlisted for <\/span><b>three to four years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">25% cost of training and financial support is borne by the Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Who are recruited?:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They are recruited from amongst all classes of people and walks of life, who give their spare time to the organisation for betterment of the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Role of Home Guards<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They work in conjunction with the <\/span><b>army in guarding the vital Installations,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the vital points and the vulnerable areas during break out of hostilities on the International Border.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It works as an auxiliary Force to the Police in <\/span><b>maintenance of internal security situations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, help the community in any kind of emergency such as an air-raid, fire, cyclone, earthquake, epidemic etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They help in maintenance of essential services, promote communal harmony and assist the administration in protecting weaker sections.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/mha-contemplates-raising-civilian-home-guards-along-china-border\/article70038859.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TH<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Border Wing Home Guards act as ancillaries to the Army and other border forces during emergencies.
