been included in the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Sites.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Erra Matti Dibbalu<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erra Matti Dibbalu, also known as the <\/span><b>Red Sand Dunes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is located along the coast near Visakhapatnam in <\/span><b>Andhra Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was first <\/span><b>documented by British geologist William King in 1886<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, these formations are regarded as rare <\/span><b>coastal geomorphological features.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of Erra Matti Dibbalu<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is composed of sand, silt, and clay, with their distinct reddish hue resulting from <\/span><b>natural oxidation over thousands of years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The uniqueness of this site is that the red sediments are a <\/span><b>part of the continuation of the evolution of the earth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and represent the late quaternary geologic age.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They exhibit badland <\/span><b>topography with different geomorphic landforms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and features, including gullies, sand dunes, buried channels, beach ridges, paired terraces, the valley in the valley, wave-cut terrace, knick point and waterfalls.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a lively scientific evolution site, which depicts the real-time effects of climate change.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The site also has archaeological significance, as studies of artefacts indicate an <\/span><b>Upper Palaeolithic horizon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and on cross dating assigned to <\/span><b>Late Pleistocene epoch<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is 20,000 BC.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The site contains dendritic drainage patterns and sediment layers that record fluctuations in sea level and climatic changes over the late Quaternary period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Other similar sites:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Only two other similar sites exist in the world, one in Sri Lanka and another in Tamil Nadu <\/span><b>(Teri Sands).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Geological Survey of India (GSI) declared Erra
